Innovative Work and Achievements
| Designed and implemented Akshara Mahila Literacy Programme for Women Self-Help Groups in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2000. This programme innovatively adopted a selective group based approach � an alternative to campaign approach - converging literacy with poverty alleviation progrogrmmes. This method, later on, was adopted in the entire State of Andhra Pradesh in Akshara Sankranti programme. Government of Andhra Pradesh, while appreciating the planning and implementation of the programme, awarded Visista Seva Patram and sanctioned two advance increments, which is very rare in government service. Akshara Mahila Programme is also recognized as one of the nine best literacy practices in the world and was presented in the White House Conference on Global Literacy held in New York on 18 September 2006. |
